How do ElevenReader hours work?
Hours give you the flexibility to listen to what you want, when you want. They’re used only when you generate new audio from your personal content—like articles, PDFs, or ePub files you upload.
- Hours are spent based on the amount of text characters converted, the voice you select, and the speed at which you listen. The faster speed you listen, the quicker hours will be used in computing text into audio.
- Therefore, each plan's hours are based on listening at normal (1.0x) playback speed.
- You are not charged for listening to text you’ve already generated into audio and played before.
- You are not charged for listening to any of the thousands of free books or feeds in the Explore library.
When do ElevenReader hours expire?
Free plans get 10 hours that expire and reset every month. Hours you purchase with packs or in your subscription expire after 12 months. This means unused hours from one month’s subscription or purchases will roll over for up to 12 months of available use. ElevenReader will always use the credits that expire soonest first — so you get the most listening time possible.
Can I get more hours for referring a friend?
Yes! If you refer a friend and they join through your link, both of you will earn hours upon your friend’s successful sign-up. You can find the amount of hours you can earn from inside the app.
How does unlimited listening* with the Ultra plan work?
The Ultra plan includes the maximum listening time of our subscription plans. It refers to “unlimited” listening time as a reasonable use cap of up to 24 hours of generated audio per calendar day, calculated at normal (1.0x) playback speed - this threshold reflects the maximum reasonable daily listening capacity of an individual user and is designed to preserve platform stability and fair access for all users. Ultra plan hours reset daily and do not roll over. This plan is not able to be shared with other accounts. Violators will be subject to non-refundable suspending or restricting access in cases of excessive use or other misuse.
Can I share my ElevenReader account with others?
No, we do not currently offer a “Friends & Family Plan.” Therefore, any users found to be account sharing with multiple users or many devices are in violation of the ElevenReader Terms. Violating users will be subject to non-refundable deactivation of their account service.
Can I export my audio from ElevenReader?
No — audio files can’t be exported from the app. Offline downloads let you listen without an internet connection, but the audio stays within ElevenReader and isn’t shareable or exportable.
What happens if I downgrade to the free plan?
You can cancel or downgrade anytime before your next billing cycle. When you downgrade, you’ll lose access to paid features like offline downloads and extended listening hours. Any unused subscription hours will remain in your account for up to 12 months, ready to use if you re-subscribe. You’ll automatically switch to the free plan.
How do offline downloads work?
Offline downloads let you convert text to audio before going offline, so you can listen without an internet connection. Ultra users get 10 downloads per month, also up to 16 hours each. At this time, you can’t download reads longer than 16 hours — but you can split them into smaller parts. All offline downloads are saved in the app and can be played anytime, even without Wi-Fi or data.
If I subscribe at a discounted price, will it renew at the same price?
Yes — your subscription will renew at the price shown during checkout for the length of your billing cycle (monthly or annual), excluding any one-time discounts or promo codes. If pricing changes in the future, we’ll let you know in advance before your next renewal.
Do you offer student, teacher, or non-profit discounts for ElevenReader?
We currently do not offer dedicated discounts for students, educators, or non-profit organizations. Check back soon as we launch special discounts.
